Persona -trinity soul- 4: Where Has all the Action Gone?

If Persona really wants to be a great hit, then it has too focus on the action, NOT the intangible drama components. Maybe it’s because I’m too thick, but all I can make of the whole Yuki-Jun plotline (which apparently, is important again) is that Yuki, Jun’s twin died several years ago and gave a “whale’s feather (WTF?)” to him. No, I can’t tell if that’s actually Jun crossdressing, if it was actually Yuki from the dead, or whatnot. Maybe it was Jun(the boy) who died as Yuki(the girl), similiar to the Sonozaki Twin’s plotline in Higurashi. But I really don’t care at the moment.

Persona really has to have the viewers sympathize with Jun before going into his deep, dark, past. Alright, so his twin died. That has the potiential to become a sad, interesting backstory. But, it’s not a sad, interesting backstory yet. We don’t care about Jun yet. So, this whole Jun-crossplaying thing is kind of strange and undeveloped to me.

Ms. Red Hair scares me. Her face matches that of an adult, but look at how SHORT she is.but she seems tall enough in Ryo’s short flashblack sequence, so it may just be bad animation. I also wonder if Yuki (if that’s who the girl was) fancies Ryo. Incest is always fun, right?

The animation is getting exceeding average, which is pretty good. At least Jun’s face looks normal now. But damn, I love the soundtrack. This anime has some of the best music ever. Sometimes, I just lie down on my chair, close my eyes and listen to the music. Unfortunately, there wasn’t the awesome rock-rap music this episode. Although, the use of the the opera music (Miss Red-Hair’s theme) compensates for that.

I was being bored on Photoshop, and this is the result. I really like Lucky Star, I guess. Anyways, you can download it as wallpaper:

Spice and Wolf 1: Anthrofest

I really don’t like anthros that much. In fact, some anthros are kind of creepy. And it really doesn’t help that the furry community scares me quite a lot. So, obviously, I wasn’t exactly jumping for joy when I found out that the female lead of “Spice and Wolf” was some type of wolf anthro. But nonetheless, Horo is an awesome character. I’d like to call her tsuntsun, but that’s not exactly it.

Lawrence is pretty fun as well. I enjoy it when a male harem lead is macho and manly. Although, unless he gets some character development later, I can see how he might get boring fast. The interactions between him and Horo are really entertaining, and the scene when he just meets her is GOLD.

I hope we’ll get some more insight on Horo’s “other form”. All we really saw of it in this episode was a big, white paw where her arm should be. It’s quite obvious that it’s some sort of wolf-like figure. I really want to know about the implications of this form. Horo makes one small reference that people are scared of her partially because of this form. Are the people just scared because the “other form” looks physically terrifying, or is it something else entirely? And why doesn’t she just stay in her anthro-form forever? That way, no one will have to be frightened at all.

The animation is pretty average, and Lawrence’s head is out of proportion sometimes. But the music is beautiful. I espicially like the upbeat, happy musicat the end of the episode. Apparently, it seems that during the more onimous, mysterious parts, there is no background music, but just faint cicada chirps. That creates quite an effective effect (Higurashi, anyone?), but I personally think that it would have done a bit better if there actually was some sort of music playing.

Well, all in all, Spice and Wolf has loads of potential. I’ll try my best to catch up to the current episodes (I’m around five episodes late, aren’t I?)!

ANN: Bandai Visual Gets Shigofumi, True Tears Anime

Anime companies are sure working faster. Three episodes out in Japan, and already these series got licensed. I’m sure Shigofumi was a safe choice. I’ll make sure to buy some DVDs once they come out. True Tears… not so much.

Anyways, I’ve made a vow to never download any licensed anime, so now my watching list is down to only PERSONA. I’ll probably start blogging H2o again, and maybe start on Spice and Wolf.

Now, only one thing can make us happier in the distressing time: Rika!
